The Use of Technology in Education

As time is changing technology is evolving with it as well. Alongside with the evolution of technology, there are different resources being developed that can help students and terachers in the classroom. These resources that can help improve the classroom are Khan Academy, Google Drive, Minecraft, and

Khan Academy

Khan Academy is an educational resource that can be found on the web and can also be downloaded on Apple and Android devices. This resource is helpful because it helps students understand and apply what they learned in subjects such as Math, Grammar, and almost all the fields in the sciences. Khan Academy helps students understand the subject by providing videos to guide them. For example, if a student doesn’t understand multiplication, they can go to Khan Academy, search for multiplication, and they will find videos on that topic. Once they understand the specific topic, the students can apply what they learned to exercises related to understanding.

Google Drive

Google Drive is another resource that allows students to analyze and evaluate there work in this software. This resource not only allows students to share there work with other students, it also lets them work in teams without having to get together. For example, if the students were assigned to partner up and do a presentation, they could share the information they have gathered through Google Drive by using software such as Microsoft PowerPoint or Google's alternative Slides and take notes of each others ideas to help improve the presentation.

Minecraft

Minecraft is a video game that allows people to adventure through different biomes. Although this may be a video game it can also be considered an educational resource because it allows students to create. For example, the teacher could discuss a topic in science such as the Fibonacci Spiral and afterwards, the teacher can test their memory in this topic by having them recreate their version of the spiral in Minecraft.

Evernote

Last but not least, Evernote is another digital resource that can be used for educational purposes. This note-taking application which can be downloaded on mobile devices is good for helping students to prepare for a test. On top of taking notes using this application, students can take pictures of their written notes so, instead of carrying a notebook with all of their notes they can just open up the application and pull up the file of their written notes.
